DJ enlisted U.S. Army in May of 2006 for a 3-year
term. He completed his boot camp training at Fort
Benning, Georgia.
Sgt. White, his recruiter, recommended that DJ, with
his slight build would be perfect for an infantry
position in an armored unit.
In October 2006 DJ was sent to Fort Stewart, and
while there he trained as a driver on the Bradley
Fighting Vehicle and other vehicles used to support
the 64th Armored unit.
DJ arrived in Iraq in May of 2007. On June 20, 2007
after completing a mission that he volunteered for his
vehicle was struck by Improvised Explosive Device
(IED) killing DJ and three other soldiers. Michael
Lage was the lone survivor and is still battling to
recover in San Antonio, Texas. KEEP FIGHTING!!
DJ and his brethern have now been assigned to the
Eternal Patrol where they can watch and protect us!

"Too often, we here in America forget that our freedoms are courageously protected by those men
and women who serve in uniform. Our nation owes them, and in particular Private Bentz, a debt of
gratitude for their unwavering commitment and selfless sacrifice."
